The Bay Area’s week-long climate summit, from April 19 through April 27, will feature dozens of events that will be open to the public.

SAN FRANCISCO (April 9, 2025) – Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and former U.S. Vice President Al Gore will deliver the keynote address at the welcome ceremony of the third annual SF Climate Week, event organizers announced today.

Gore, whose decades-long advocacy has positioned him as one of the world’s most influential voices in the climate movement, will speak at the event in San Francisco on April 21, 2025. Gore’s participation highlights the urgent need for decisive global action amid escalating climate impacts worldwide.

Gore is widely recognized for raising global awareness of climate change through his Oscar-winning documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth” and his continued leadership as the founder of The Climate Reality Project. Gore also has been instrumental in directing significant investments into sustainable technologies and businesses through the firm he chairs, Generation Investment Management, which backs companies aspiring to build a sustainable economy. The firm invests in long-term, climate-aligned business models that drive real-world impact. Gore’s leadership reflects the rising influence of mission-driven investors and businesses in accelerating change where leadership is most needed.

SF Climate Week, organized by climate careers platform Climatebase, has rapidly emerged as one of the largest and most impactful climate gatherings worldwide. In April 2024, more than 18,000 attendees participated in over 350 events, ranging from panels and workshops to exhibitions spotlighting cutting-edge climate solutions.

“Few figures in the environmental movement command the global recognition and respect that Vice President Gore does,” said Evan Hynes, co-founder of Climatebase and SF Climate Week. “His keynote underscores SF Climate Week’s role as a catalyst for collective action, bold ideas, and community-building at a time when the world feels divided, distracted, and overwhelmed. Gatherings like this offer rare spaces for people to forge meaningful connections and generate the momentum we need to accelerate climate solutions — together.”

SF Climate Week 2025 will feature in-depth panels, hands-on workshops, curated exhibitions, and a range of networking opportunities—all focused on accelerating innovation toward a sustainable future. Participants will engage directly with leading experts, policymakers, business leaders, and activists united by a shared commitment to combating climate change through actionable, data-driven solutions.

“Each year, SF Climate Week generates even more energy and urgency for meaningful change,” said Morgan Campbell, Director of SF Climate Week. “Welcoming Vice President Gore — a leader who has dedicated decades to climate action — reminds us that everyone has a role to play in addressing climate change, regardless of background or title. When we act together, our collective power is unstoppable.”
